Frequently Asked Questions: Surfing in Morocco

Surf Season
The best season for surfing in Morocco is from September to early May. Especially in the months of December, January, February and March a higher swell is to be expected and therefore the perfect time for experienced surfers. In September and October, April and May you find friendly, medium high waves. We are spoiled with a large selection of surf spots and therefore find suitable waves for every condition and surf level. The summer months are known for small waves and crowded beaches.

Wetsuit
We recommend a 3.2 wetsuit for autumn, winter and spring months and a shorty for summer months (July and August). If you are more sensitive to cold water, bring your own 4.3 wetsuit. We provide 3.2 wetsuits for our guests.

Water temperature
Average water temperature:
Jan 18°C – Feb 17°C – Mar 17°c – Apr 18°C – May 19°C – Jun 20°C – Jul 20°C – Aug 21°C – Sep 21°C – Oct 21°C – Oct 21°C – Nov 19°C – Dec 18°C

Weather
Winter time from December to February is very mild (during the day), with maximum temperatures around 20°C, but cold in the evening and especially at night (below 5°C). Rainfall is rare: Sometimes it does not rain for a whole month. Spring, from March to mid-June, is pleasantly warm. In the afternoon it is often windy. Sometimes thunderstorms can break out in March and April, but less often in May. Summer, from mid-June to September, is warm and dry. The weather is pleasantly warm, but a bit chilly in the evening or early morning. Sometimes the cold ocean current can cause fog along the coast, but it disappears in the warmest hours. Autumn is usually pleasantly warm in October and November, but cold at night. The first rare rains can occur in October.

Frequently Asked Questions: Arriving in Morocco

From Europe to Agadir
There are many direct flights from European destinations to Al Massia airport. Once you arrive at the airport, a taxi is waiting for you to bring you to our surf camp. Both transfers (arrival and departure) are included in our packages (for a stay of 5 and more nights). Do not hesitate to contact us if you need help planning your trip.

From Marrakech to Agadir
There are several ways to get from the most famous Moroccan city to the most famous surfing Mecca:

Bus We recommend 2 bus companies: www.supratours.ma and www.ctm.ma. They offer connections nearly every hour. The bus ride takes 3-4 hours and costs between 120 and 200 Dirham (10-18€). You arrive right in the centre of Agadir, where we will pick you up and bring you to our Surf Soul House.

Taxi The easiest and fastest way from Marrakech to Tamraght is by taxi. The prices for this 3,5 hour drive are between 120€ and 150€. We are happy to book a taxi for you and make sure that you arrive safely.

Rental car Another possibility is to rent a car (starting from 250DH/day). Explore the surroundings, make short detours and enjoy the trip from Marrakech to Agadir in your rhythm.

Entry form
When entering Morocco you are going to be asked about the address of your surf camp:
Surf Soul Guesthouse

ATM / Withdraw money
We recommend you to withdraw money at Agadir airport or to bring € / Dirham with you so you can enjoy your holiday from the first second on and don’t need to worry about anything. In Aourir (25 min walk) you will find another ATM. Please note: You can withdraw a maximum of 2000 dh (about 200€) per transaction.

Frequently Asked Questions: Once arrived at Surf Soul Adventure

Check in / check out
There are no fixed arrival days, so you can arrive on any day of the week. Check-in is after 4 p.m., but if your room is ready for you earlier, you are more than welcome to check-in into your room. If not, leave your luggage at the reception, enjoy a relaxing Moroccan tea on the rooftop and let your soul arrive. Check-out is at 10am, but don’t hesitate to ask us for a flexible check-in and check-out.

Catering
We serve healthy breakfast with fruit salad, Moroccan bread, jam, amlou, honey, cheese, eggs, Msmen, coffee and tea. A typical lunch at the beach is made of homemade sandwiches, pasta or quinoa / rice with vegetables, fresh fruits and biscuits. For dinner we serve Moroccan meals such as tajine, couscous, zaalouk, pastilla or tortilla. Please note: we do not serve meat, fish or chicken every day.

Special diet
Please let us know (before your arrival) if you have any special dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free) so that we can do our best to offer delicious alternatives for an extra charge.

Life takes place outside
We spend most of our time outdoor: surfing on the beach, sitting in a nice beach restaurant, discovering Agadir and Taghazout or relaxing and eating on the roof terrace. Since it can be chilly and windy in the evenings, we recommend to bring warm clothes and flip-flops for indoor use.

Bring your own water bottle with you
True to the motto “Don’t destroy what you came to enjoy” we do our best to make our surf camp as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. To reduce plastic waste, we offer reusable bottles for our filtered water. Of course you can also bring your own bottle with you!
